The programme for the three-day event is designed to deliver a cultural and academic programme that commemorates the work of Mícheál Ó’Cléirigh and the annalists of the Four Masters.
Martina Needham, Committee Chairperson said that the theme, Myths, Legends and Laws, was influenced by two factors.

“It is 400 years since the first Annals of the Kingdom of Ireland / Annals of the Four Masters was started and that it is important to go back to the beginning and present a programme that reflects this,” she said.
“The committee wanted to present a programme that reflected the current interest in exploring and celebrating our identity, an identity that is strongly influenced by our myths and legends.”
The event starts on Friday evening, May 8 with registration from 6.30pm in the Friary Hall, Rossnowlagh.
Dr Niall Muldoon will then perform the official opening and present prizes to the primary school art competition winners. he evening will continue with storytelling by Séamas Mac Annaidh, music from Coláiste Cholmcille Choir and finish with Comhrá agus Craic.
On Saturday, May 9 a stellar lineup of academics will present content that will inform, challenge, and stimulate conversations and discussions. This lineup includes Professor John Mc Cafferty Director of the Mícheál Ó Cléirigh Institute, UCD, Dr Angela Byrne, Dr Patrick Wadden, Dr Bernadette Cunningham and Mr Seamas Mac Annaidh.
The evening will finish with the Summer School dinner in Dorrian’s Hotel, Ballyshannon, with music by Bel Canto.
The Summer School will conclude on Sunday ,May 10 with Aifreann i nGaeilge agus i mBéarla in the Friary and a tour to the Cavan Burren.

In closing the launch, the committee acknowledged and expressed their gratitude to Donegal County Council Local Representatives who provide funding under the Development Fund Initiative (DFI), Mr Paul Diver, Sandhouse Hotel for continuous support, Fr Eugene Barrett and the Franciscan Friary in Rossnowlagh and to Ms Anna Kujawa, Donegal County Library for facilitating the meeting and launch. This generous support is important to the success of the three-day event and enhances the experience for all those who engage with the summer school.
