Relay for Life in Donegal raised a whopping €321,000 for Cancer Research. The money was raised by teams from across the county who ran a huge variety of imaginative events and took part in a 24 hours sponsored relay walk.

They presented their cheque to the Irish Cancer Society last Wednesday night at the Mount Errigal Hotel in Letterkenny. Teraze Toby, nurse at the new Daffodil Centre accepted the cheque on behalf of ICS.

The centre is opening on September 9 in temporary premises at the Letterkenny Shopping Centre, due to the flooding at Letterkenny General Hospital.

On behalf of the Relay for Life organisers, chairman Robert O’Connor thanked all those who took part, their sponsors, local businesses and media for their support.

He hopes to confirm the date for Relay for Life 2014 within the next few weeks.
