Why they won: The winners at the Donegal Sports Star Awards

The various category winners were presented with their awards at a special reception at the Mount Errigal Hotel in Letterkenny on Friday evening. Here's who won what and why they won it

PRIMARY SCHOOL SPORTS BOY

The winner of the Primary School Sports Boy Award is Lukas Janosik, Scoil Íosagáin, Buncrana

This is Lukas Janosik’s first Donegal Sports Star Award.

Lukas is an exceptionally talented and dedicated young sportsman who has excelled in athletics representing Scoil Íosagáin during the 2024–2025 season. He has won the Inishowen and Donegal Under 11 Cross Country Championship as well as the Inishowen and Donegal Under 11 Cross Country Team Gold. 

In the Donegal Primary Schools Track and Field championships, he won gold at both 100m and 600m distances and took bronze in the team relay. He was also part of the team that won silver at the Donegal Sports Hall Athletics Event. 

While not applicable to this award, Lukas has also won three All- Ireland athletics medals in 2025 with City of Derry Spartans AC and topped off a great soccer season by being named Under-11 Player of the Year with Buncrana Hearts.
