PRIMARY SCHOOL SPORTS GIRL
The winner of the Primary School Sports Girl Award is Caoimhe McNeill, Dooish National School
Caoimhe has represented her school with distinction across Gaelic football, soccer, basketball, Sportshall athletics, track and field, and cross-country. In team sports, she played a key role in helping Dooish N.S. reach the FAI 5-a-side county final, top their group in the FAI 7-a-side competition, and advance to the Cumann na mBunscoil Gaelic football county final.
In athletics, Caoimhe enjoyed an outstanding year. She won individual gold at the Finn Valley Cross Country event in September ‘24, leading her school to team victory. She followed this with strong performances in Sportshall, third place in the 100 metres, and first place in the 800 metres at regional level. The highlight came at the Primary Schools County Sports, where she claimed gold in the 800 metres and was later awarded the prestigious John Carlin Award for outstanding performance, selected from nearly 4,000 competitors.
This is Caoimhe’s first Donegal Sports Star Award.
