Why they won: The winners at the Donegal Sports Star Awards

The various category winners were presented with their awards at a special reception at the Mount Errigal Hotel in Letterkenny on Friday evening. Here's who won what and why they won it

SECONDARY SCHOOL SPORTS BOY

The Winner of the 2025 Best Sports Boy at Secondary School level is Caolan McFadden, Loreto Community School, Milford

This is Caolan’s third Donegal Sports Star Award. At the start of the year, Caolan claimed the Ulster Schools Senior 800 metre title and then went on to back that up by producing a superb performance at the All-Ireland Schools Championships in Tullamore where he took the National title, winning in a personal best time of 1:51.98.

He also featured on the Loreto Milford team that broke the Ulster 4×400 metre relay record at the Ulster Schools Championships where he ran the final leg.

Adding to his 800m success, Caolan also won the senior boys race at the Ulster District Schools Cross Country Championships, demonstrating his versatility across disciplines.

Caolan’s achievements at provincial, national, and team level reflect his exceptional talent, work ethic, and leadership.
