The margin here should, said the Democrat, have been ‘twelve or thirteen, based on superiority’ as Donegal overcame Ulster champions Down in Dungannon.
Donegal were wasteful and a goal by Sean O’Neill had Down in front by six points at one stage in the first half. After Sean Ferriter was moved to midfield, Donegal reduced the arrears, 1-5 to 0-5, at half-time.
Neilly Gallagher hit four points in the second half as Donegal took the win.
