Councillor Michael McMahon has raised concerns over Garda numbers in Bundoran
Concern has been expressed at the Garda workforce in Bundoran.
The matter was raised on Friday to the Donegal Joint Policing Committee (JPC) by Bundoran-based Sinn Féin Councillor Michael McMahon.
He told the meeting that one sergeant and three Gardai were stationed in the town.
“Bundoran is a very busy seaside town and has an increased population,” Councillor McMahon said.
“The town is under severe pressure because of the amount of people that are moving into Bundoran.
“I am worried that three Gardai and one sergeant won't be fit to do what is being asked of them. I am asking for an increase for the summer season.”
Councillor McMahon also raised an issue regarding Garda station in Bundoran, which he said needs upgrading.
He said: “It is barely fit for purpose. There are very cramped conditions. I mentioned this six months ago and have had no word back on it. Gardai need to be working in proper conditions.”
Chief Superintendent Aidan Glacken said he would have to see a file 'to see what the ask is' before issuing a response.
