A 32-year-old man has appeared in court charged with a serious assault in a Ramelton takeaway.

Kamran Waris, with an address at Cannon View, Carnamuggagh Upper, Letterkenny, was before Letterkenny Circuit Court.

Waris pleaded guilty to unlawfully assaulting a man and causing him harm at The Spicy Grill, Ramelton on February 13, 2021.

The accused man pleaded guilty when the charge was read to him. During the brief hearing, Waris spoke only to tender the plea of guilty.

Mr Sean McGee BL, for Waris, told the court that Waris is a Pakistani national who has been in Ireland ‘for a number of years’.

Judge John Aylmer adjourned the case until October and directed the preparation of a probation and welfare report, to include Waris’ suitability for community service.
