Three Donegal gardai have been hailed for their bravery after rescuing a man from the water in Buncrana.
In the early hours of September 16, a man entered the water.
At 3.50am, the three gardai - Garda Keith Conlon, Garda Deirdre Connolly and Student Garda Tara McGrory - went into the water and rescued the 21-year-old man.
Chief Superintendent Aidan Glacken praised the bravery of the trio for their part in the heroic rescue.
“Immense bravery was demonstrated,” he told the Donegal Joint Policing Committee (JPC).
“The gardai demonstrated quick-thinking by taking the buoy from the garda station to the scene and recovered the male who is now safe and well.”
