Two men have pleaded guilty to assault causing harm to another man in Letterkenny.
Brian Cairney and Danny Tierney tendered guilty pleas when they appeared before Letterkenny Circuit Court.
They are each charged with assault causing harm to Patrick O’Shea at Celtic Apartments, Pearse Road, Letterkenny, on June 23, 2020. Both spoke only to plead guilty to the charge.
Cairney, a 49-year-old with an address at Oliver Plunkett Road, Letterkenny, is represented by barrister Mr Ciaran Elders BL. Mr Elders said Cairney has no previous convictions and none since the incident. Judge John Aylmer granted an application for the preparation of a probation and welfare report, to include suitability for community services.
Mr Colm Smyth SC appears alongside Mr Simon Gillespie BL for Tierney, a 40-year-old from Celtic Apartments, Pearse Road, Letterkenny.
Mr Smyth said that a probation and welfare report would be of benefit to his client, who has one previous conviction. Judge Aylmer granted this application.
A third accused, John Tierney, is also a co-defendant in the case. He is currently in custody and his solicitor Mr Michael Shiel said counsel will be available to deal with his matter next Tuesday. Judge Aylmer remanded Tierney in custody to appear again on October 31.
