Kilcar communities to give tragic Borys a fond send off

A service to remember father-of-three Borys Kalov, who tragically drowned in south west Donegal last week, will be held on Friday morning.

The body of the Ukrainian national was recovered from the water off Muckross Head last Friday following a multi-agency operation.

Mr Kalov fled Ukraine with his family last year and were based in the Kilcar area since November 2022.

Originally from the war-torn city of Luhansk, Mr Kalov and his family sought refuge in Ireland and relocated to Kilcar.

He is survived by his wife Natalia, by his son Dmytro, by his daughters Yelyzaveth and baby Galina. He also leaves behind sisters Galina (Limerick), Irina (Limerick), and family in Ukraine.

“Borys is deeply regretted and remembered by a wide circle of friends and the good friends that he has made in Kilcar,” a death notice said.

On Friday morning at 9am ay the residence of Charlie McGroarty in Churchtown, Kilcar, a service will be held.

The Ukrainian/Irish and all of the community are invited to attend.

At 10am, Mr Kalov’s remains will leave Kilcar and go to Shannon Crematorium.

His death notice added: “When the occupation is over in his homeland, Borys will be laid to rest with his mother and late brother.”
