Man pleads guilty to causing €18,000 damage to Letterkenny house

The man, who is currently in custody, appeared at Letterkenny Circuit Court where he tendered a guilty plea

A man has appeared in court charged with causing €18,000 of criminal damage to a house in Letterkenny.

Joseph Colhoun appeared at Letterkenny Circuit Court where he pleaded guilty to a single charge of criminal damage at An Clarach, Killyclug in Letterkenny.

The damage was caused to the property owned by Edward McGettigan on November 27th, 2022.

The 41-year-old,  who is originally from Lifford, has been in custody since the incident.

He admitted damaging the living room, carpets, bathroom, toilet, kitchen table and chair, bedrooms, bannisters and wardrobes of the property after it was flooded.

Barrister for the accused, Ms Kelda Doherty, asked that he be remanded in custody until the next sitting of Letterkenny Circuit Court in January.

Judge John Aylmer agreed and adjourned the case until then.
