The woman stole CDs valued at €45.
A woman who stole groceries and a quantity of CDs in separate thefts has appeared in court.
Mary Bernadette Ward was before Friday’s sitting of Ballyshannon District Court.
The 26-year-old, of Lawn Park, Ballyshannon, was charged over incidents in Donegal Town in 2020 and Ballyshannon in 2022.
The court was told that Ward entered Eurosaver on Quay Street, Donegal Town, on December 17, 2020 and stole CDs. The total value of the stolen items, which were not recovered, was €45.
On September 14, 2022, Ward stole items to the value of €31 from Kernan’s Spar, Ballyshannon.
When spoken to by gardai, Ward made full admissions and apologised.
Ward has six previous convictions for theft, arising from incidents in 2018 and 2019, the court heard.
A solicitor for Ward said the accused is a mother of four young children. Given time, he said his client would pay back some compensation, but Ward was not yet in a position to advance any funds at the present time.
Judge Ciaran Liddy fined Ward a total of €200 and allowed six months to pay.
