A Donegal man faces a trial next year over 14 charges of alleged sexual abuse.

A book of evidence was served on the man, who is aged in his 60, this week.

Garda Lynda Halligan gave evidence of serving the book of evidence on the man at Letterkenny courthouse.

All 14 alleged charges are contained in the book.

The accused man, who cannot be named due to legal reasons, was present for a brief hearing at Letterkeny District Court.

Sergeant Jim Collins told the court that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) had consented for the man to be sent forward to the next sitting of Letterkenny Circuit Court, which begins on January 24, 2023.

Judge Éiteáin Cunningham administered the alibi warning and made a return for trial order.

Legal aid was granted to the man's solicitor, Mr Ciaran Mac Lochlainn and one junior counsel was assigned.
