Raphoe Tidy Towns have informed the gardai after vandals caused damage in the Diamond last night, uprooting flowers and breaking branches off trees.
"This is what the Tidy Towns staff had to deal with this morning," Raphoe Tidy Towns posted. "This destruction is an insult to our Tidy Towns staff, volunteers, towns people and business people who support our work for the town. We had a fairly quiet year with very little damage but this is unacceptable. The Gardai have been informed so hopefully they can help to bring the person or persons responsible to account."
This morning, local volunteers set about clearing up the mess.
Locals arrived at the playground in May to find that an incident of wanton vandalism tore a series of green strips from the perimeter fence. Shards of the material were strewn across the playground, which is for use by children under 12.
