The warm weather has forced operators at Lifford Greyhound Stadium to push back the start time Friday night’s race card.

An eight-race card is listed for the recently reopened Lifford venue.

The action was due to get underway at 7.45pm.

However, a spokesperson for the stadium has confirmed that the first race will now be at 9pm.

“Due to current hot weather, in the interest of the welfare of the greyhounds, our first race tonight, Friday 8th September will be at 9pm,” the spokesperson said.

Owners and trainers are advised that weigh-in will take place from 8-8.30pm.

Met Éireann are forecasting very warm and humid weather with daytime temperatures in excess of 27 degrees.

A status yellow high temperature warning is in place.
