Gardaí are appealing for information following two separate incidents in Carrigans and St Johnston.
A car parked at Pump Street, Carrigans had a small sum of cash stolen from within the car. It had been left unlocked as the key was faulty and entry was gained to it. The incident happened in the early hours of Saturday, February 24 between approximately 4:45am and 5am.
In a similar incident, at Main Street, St Johnston entry was gained to an unlocked car and damage was caused to the ignition of the car but nothing was stolen from it. The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, February 24 between approximately 5am and 5:20am.
“We appeal to motorists who may have travelled in the area with a dash cam between 4:30am and 5:30am to make the footage available to gardaí,” Garda Grainne Doherty said.
“We are particularly interested in any sightings of two male youths in the area around the time in question. If anybody can assist with relevant information we ask them to contact Gardaí in Letterkenny on 074-9167100.
“We continue to appeal to all car owners to ensure that they have locked their car before leaving it unattended regardless of whether it is parked in a public place or at home. Never leave cash or other valuables in your car.”
