Elaine Dullaghan has been formally introduced as Donegal's newest practising solicitor.
A daughter of Tommy and Caroline Dullaghan from Carricknashane, Castlefin, Ms Dullaghan is working with Barron O'Donnell Solicitors in Ballybofey and was introduced at Letterkenny District Court this week.
Having begun at Barron O'Donnell Solicitors on a two-week work experience placement in 2019, Ms Dullaghan continued as a trainee with the company where she now works as a solicitor.
A former student of Gleneely NS, Killygordon and St Columba's College, Ms Dullaghan graduated from Maynooth University with a Bachelor of Laws degree, attaining First Class honours.
Ms Dullaghan subsequently completed a postgraduate degree, also attaining First Class honours, also at Maynooth University.
In November, 2023 Ms Dullaghan finished a Professional Practice Course (PPC) with the Law Society and was admitted to the roll solicitors on February 15, 2024.
She was introduced to Monday's court sitting by experienced solicitor Mr Kieran O'Gorman.
“The world is her oyster,” Mr O'Gorman said. “I can assure her of the help of all of the solicitors in the profession.”
Mr O'Gorman said that Ms Dullaghan's parents and her fiance, Neil McCloskey, had 'every reason to be proud'.
Sergeant Jim Collins welcomed Ms Dullaghan on behalf of An Garda Siochana.
“We certainly will have many battles – but always on the pitch and not off it,” Sergeant Collins said.

Judge Éiteáin Cunningham extended a welcome on behalf of the court.
“It seems that she is an excellent candidate to be introduced in District Number 1,” Judge Cunningham said.
“There is immense congeniality in District Number 1 and you can be assured of the assistance of practitioners, gardai and the court staff.
“I would like to wish you every success in your new career and no doubt you will take the role with gusto, using all the accolades achieved in Maynooth an in training.”
Addressing the court, Ms Dullaghan thanked those who had conveyed their wishes and aided in her training.
She said: “I look forward to working with you all in the future.”
