Contracts signed for new €8.9m social housing scheme in Castlefinn

The construction process is expected to take 82 weeks, with the first tenants anticipated to move into their new homes by June 2026

The contract for the construction of an €8.9 million project that will see 32 new social housing units built in Castlefinn has been signed.

Habinteg Housing Association (Ireland), announced that Mr Packie Keeney, Chairman of the Association, has officially signed the contract, with Dorrian Construction Ltd, Letterkenny.

This project - at Raphoe Road, Castlefinn - is being funded through the Department of Housing's Capital Assistance Scheme (CAS) and administered by Donegal County Council. The construction process is expected to take 82 weeks, with the first tenants anticipated to move into their new homes by June 2026.

These homes will play a crucial role in addressing the growing demand for social housing in the region, offering secure and affordable accommodation to those most in need.  This new development expands Habinteg’s housing portfolio, which currently includes 53 units at Ballyduff Park, Lifford.

Mr Stephen Shevlin, CEO of Habinteg has said that the Castlefinn project demonstrates Habinteg's commitment to expanding social housing opportunities in Donegal, continuing its mission of providing quality housing for vulnerable and low-income individuals and families.
