A Donegal man who made notoriety last Christmas because of a sign in his yard is busy putting in the graft this year.

Today FM featured John Gallinagh, from Gallinagh Finn Valley Nursery Ltd at Backleas, Stranorlar, last year, having been sent on the sign that read, in typical Donegal fashion: “John is up the field. Please blow the horn or ring.”

Twelve months on, Today FM has re-run the story, John’s sign is still up and with Christmas less than a fortnight away and has little time for standing about.

“Seeing we grow our own native trees and native hedges, I don’t have time to be waiting around the yard so the sign came in handy,” he told DonegalLive. “We’re the only grower of trees in the county now and it’s a busy time of year.”
