Minister for Education Norma Foley TD has given authorisation to the Board of Management of St Columba's Stranorlar to proceed to the tendering stage for their proposed major extension and refurbishment of their facilities.
It is hoped that the tendering process will be completed by the third quarter of this year, with construction to commence in early 2026.
The major building project includes the provision of six science labs, four construction/engineering rooms, two art rooms, two home economic rooms, two computer/multimedia labs, a multipurpose hall and fitness suite, a library, a number of general classrooms, offices, a special needs base and external hardcourt play areas.

The proposed development will cater for the current enrolment of 1,000 students.
Pat the Cope Gallagher, TD, who announced the news, said: “I have a long association with the school community as well as the wider Finn Valley area and I welcome the Minister of Education’s proposed investment in the second level education facilities in Stranorlar.
"I wish the Principal, Board of Management, staff, students and parents of St. Columba’s College continued success in the delivery of this important project which will serve the community well into the future.”
