Eunan O'Hagan's new CD, the Irish Tin Whistle Way
When Eunan O'Hagan walked into Deele College in 2019, he, in his own words, 'couldn't play two notes – but now he has just released his first album.
'The Irish Tin Whistle Way' is on sale for €5 with the cover price being donated to Jigsaw, the youth mental health support service.
Coaxed by his mother, Margaret, Eunan began learning the tin whistle under the direction of music teacher Con McFadden three years ago.
“My ma sort of just threw me into music and I got handed a tin whistle,” Eunan told Donegal Live.
“I couldn't play two notes, but the first song I learned was Amazing Grace and it started to go well from there.”
The CD is available by contacting Eunan or from the school and he hopes to have it on sale from some local shops.
The songs featured are all traditional Irish tunes with Eunan, an Irish history buff. a big fan of the genre.
“It's something I'm very passionate about; I'm big into history, especially Irish history.”
Eunan is now in transition year at Deele College and is friend Travis Gibson helped out with the cover photo for the CD.
Boulavogue, which is Eunan's favourite song on the album, Raglan Road and Amazing Grace all feature while local musician Christy Murray, the famed Donegal Piper, guests with a version of Mná na hÉireann.
Eunan dedicated Boulavogue to his grandmother, Kate, who he fondly sang the song with as he developed is love of music.
Eunan as featured in musical events at Deele College and has raised money for the Focus Ireland charity from busking.
