Local elections: Doohan and Sweeney eliminated on second count in Glenties

The votes of Anthony Matthew Doohan and Ann Sweeney will now be distributed among the remaining candidates in the Glenties local electoral area

Anthony Matthew Doohan (Ind) and Ann Sweeney (Ind) have been eliminated after the second count in the Glenties electoral area.

They were eliminated after Micheál Choilm MacGiolla Easbuig's 242 vote surplus was distributed.

MacGiolla Easbuig and Michael McClafferty have claimed the first two of the six seats in the Glenties area.

Anthony Molloy (FF) on 1,417 is next on the list, but the race looks set to intensify.

Brian Carr (SF) on 1,029, John Shéamais Ó Fearraigh (SF) on 1,004 and Denis McGee (100% Redress) on 937 remain well poised at the moment.

Kellie Rodgers (SF) is on 843, Jonathan Stewart (Ind) on 820 and Joseph Molloy (FG) on 773.

The votes of Doohan (108) and Sweeney (78) will now be distributed.
