Essential works to begin tomorrow to maintain safe and reliable water supplies across Inishowen.

Essential cleaning and maintenance works will be carried out at several reservoirs across Inishowen next week as part of efforts to maintain safe and reliable drinking water supplies.

Uisce Éireann crews will begin work on Monday, September 14, at Malin Town Reservoir in Culdaff, with works getting underway from 8am.

Similar works will take place near Malin Head at Umgall Reservoir, Portahack, later that afternoon.

The following day on Tuesday, September 15, crews will commence work at Aughaweel Reservoir in Drumfries from 8am, before carrying out maintenance at Black Mountain Reservoir in Portahack on Tuesday afternoon.

Uisce Éireann has warned that some customers supplied by the reservoirs may experience reduced water pressure, temporary discolouration or intermittent interruptions to their water supply during or shortly after the works.

Crews will endeavour to minimise disruption and restore normal water supply levels as quickly as possible.

Uisce Éireann’s Damien O’Sullivan said the reservoir cleaning works were an important part of maintaining the local water network across Inishowen.

“These reservoir cleaning works are an important part of maintaining a safe and reliable water supply for communities across Inishowen,” he said.

“Regular cleaning helps protect water quality and supports the long-term resilience of the network. We thank customers for their patience and cooperation while our crews carry out these essential works.”

Following the maintenance works, customers may notice temporary discolouration in their water supply. If this occurs, customers are advised to run the cold kitchen tap until the water runs clear.
