Advance payments under the 2025 Eco-Scheme worth €11,891,800 to 7,750 Donegal farmers have commenced.

The advance payments were announced by the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Martin Heydon.

The Eco-Scheme is part of Ireland’s CAP Strategic Plan 2023-2027, and rewards farmers for implementing measures that protect and enhance the climate, environment, water quality and biodiversity.

Welcoming the allocation, Donegal Minister for State for Sport and Postal Policy, Charlie McConalogue, said: “Farmers are the backbone of our economy and our rural communities. They deliver world-class produce that supports international trade, and it is essential that they are supported in doing so.

“Fianna Fáil is steadfast in our support for a strong CAP that works for farmers, and we will continue to champion this at EU level.

“The payment rate of €66 per eligible hectare will provide meaningful support to over 110,000 farmers nationwide, including 7,750 farmers here in Donegal. The overall funding package for this scheme announced by Minister Heydon is €194,521,654.”
