MacCumhaills pulled off an emphatic victory over Buncrana at the Scarvey on Friday evening securing a sixteen-point win.

The Twin Towns men were in control from early on, racing into a 1-11 to 0-5 lead at the break.

Dylan Laverty’s goal midway through the half set the tone for the period. Lee Henderson and Jamie De Ward were clinical throughout, hitting a combined total of 0-14, with ex-county star Henderson landing six frees from his eight-point haul.

Buncrana responded well in the opening half with three points on the spin from Dylan Duffy, while Kevin O’Rourke and Tom Mitchell were also on target. The promising Jacob Malone and Conor Griffin chipped in with points for MacCumhaills.

The introduction of Chris Gallagher and Paudie Kelly gave MacCumhaills a boost, with Kelly scoring the clinching goal to quash any thoughts of a Buncrana revival.

Kelly also contributed to the renewed energy that saw the visitors pull away decisively in the closing stages.

Jamie De Ward added to his tally in the second half with some fine scores from open play, while Jacob Malone chipped in with three points, and Conor Griffin was also on target to round off a fine display.
