Mayo got back on track in the All-Ireland SFC round-robin Group 1 with a 2-17 to 1-14 win over Tyrone in Omagh.

With Tyrone toppling Donegal 2-17 to 0-20 in the opening series of fixtures and Mayo losing at home to Cavan on a 1-17 to 1-14 scoreline, the Connacht side's victory puts them right back in the mix. It means that all three matches in the second thus far have been won by the away team.

With Stephen Rochford calling the shots for Mayo following Kevin McStay stepping aside due to health reasons, Darren McHale managed to net from a Niall Morgan fumble right on the stroke of half-time to give the visitors a 1-9 to 0-4 half-time lead.

Darragh Canavan netted for Malachy O'Rourke's team nine minutes into the second half, to leave his team 1-9 to 1-6 behind. However, Mayo retgained their composure and Ryan O'Donoghue put it to bed with a penalty four minutes from time.

Cavan host Donegal in the fourth match of the group at Breffni Park tomorrow, starting at 2pm.  The final set of fixtures sees Donegal take on Mayo and Tyrone facing Cavan at neutral venues.
