Monaghan sealed a direct passage to the All-Ireland SFC quarter-finals thanks to a 2-27 to 1-26 win over Down.

The result means the Farney County topped Group 3 and Down came second, which means a home preliminary All-Ireland quarter-final this coming weekend.

Third spot in the group went to Louth, the Leinster champions, who defeated Clare 2-17 to 2-14.

Three of the four groups are now finished, with Donegal, Tyrone, Mayo and Cavan all fighting it out in Group 1. All the teams have won one and lost one, and all four can finish in any of the four positions.

Donegal take on Mayo at Roscommon at 4pm, the same time as Tyrone meet Cavan in Enniskillen.

Armagh, Meath and Monaghan have won their groups, with Dublin, Kerry and Down coming second, with Galway, Cork and Louth taking third.
