Fears that Michael Murphy picked up an injury in the second-half of the All-Ireland semi-final against Meath have been quelled.

Murphy, who scored six points in the 3-26 to 0-15 beating of the Royals at Croke Park, was withdrawn in the 45th minute.

There were murmurs that the Glenswilly man, coaxed back for another go by Jim McGuinness for this season, might have picked up an injury.

“No, no, he is good,” McGuinness said afterwards.

Murphy is having his most prolific Championship campaign in the green and gold.

The 35-year-old has hit 45 points so far across Donegal’s 10 games.

Captain in 2012 when Donegal defeated Mayo and again in 2014, when they lost to Kerry, Murphy is heading into his third final.

“A tiny wee bang, one of those things,” was how he described it.

McGuinness was able to bring on the fit again Caolan McGonagle while Jason McGee also punched in another 20 minutes.

“The strength of the group at the minute is the squad,” McGuinness said.

“They’re working really hard. Caolan, when he came on into the game - he has been a huge player for us and he shored up the middle and was really solid.

“There is good competition for places and we’ll be back to ground zero now in terms of that on Tuesday night and everyone will be putting their best foot forward. That is what you want and the lads have been brilliant in that regard.”
