Glenswilly came from 13 points down in the first half to grab a draw with Sean MacCumhaills as both sides stayed unbeaten in the Donegal GAA Centre in Convoy.

A bright start from the hosts, playing in Convoy as MacCumhaill Park is being re-laid, two pointers from Jamie Keegan and returning county star Oisin Gallen set the tone, while Conor McGinty hit a brilliant goal right into the postage stamp.

A second goal for the hosts came as Chad McSorley punched in from a Gallen free, and Gallen added two more points to go 2-9 to 0-2 ahead.

Glenswilly, minus Michael Murphy once again, ended the half well as they hit the last four points, but they kicked on well in the second half.

Caoimhin Marley played an important part in that with a couple of two pointers, while Mark Bonner hit a goal to take them back into the contest.

Jamie Keegan kept his side in the lead and they were seven ahead when he hit his fifth and final MacCumhaills point on 50 minutes, but Gary McDaid’s men rallied as Gary McFadden and Mark Bonner, who levelled the game on 60 minutes, hit scores from outside the arc.

After a win over Naomh Conaill in their opening game, Glenswilly would have been keen to get going but they started slow against a MacCumhaills side on the high of beating St Michael's in the Bridge in the opener.

But it was a tame start in the early stages with a lot of Glenswilly possession, although after a Pauric Devine shot came off the bar, MacCumhaills countered and Jamie Keegan kicked over a brilliant two-pointer.

Kevin McCormack then won the kick-out and fed Chad McSorley, just before a super two pointer from Oisin Gallen on his left foot.

And on ten minutes, the Twin-Towns men hit the net after another Glenswilly kick out, McSorley playing in Conor McGinty who cut inside and powered an outside of the boot effort straight into the top corner.

Kealan Dunleavy opened the Glenswilly account on twelve minutes after a neat 1-2, and Caoimhin Marley kicked over another swiftly after.

But Gary Wilson’s side hit the net again as Oisin Gallen was fouled and the county star stepped up and went for a two-pointer from the free, which dropped short and Chad McSorley got a punch to it, and after consulting with his umpires, referee Ryan Walsh awarded the goal as the ball just crept over the line.

MacCumhaills continued their dominance as Fintan Griffin fisted over, before they played the ball out brilliantly under pressure in defence and worked it to Gallen, who split the posts again.

They won the kick out after the Gallen point and Kevin McCormack got on the score sheet, before Gallen got his fourth point of the half after selling a neat dummy to Sean Collum and kicking over for a 13 point lead.

Glenswilly did end the half well, Donal Gallagher kicking over from play before a free from Gary McFadden, while Kealan Dunleavy’s two-point free made it 2-9 to 0-6 at the break.

Gallen continued his brilliant game as he played a 1-2 with Luke Gavigan before kicking over, while he added another from a free as McSorley was fouled.

But Glenswilly got back into the game as Marley kicked a two pointer from play before Mark Bonner hit the net after a 1-2 with Eoghan Scott, before firing low under Eoin Gallen.

That didn’t faze MacCumhaills however, who kept plugging away, Keegan kicking over, with Reid Kelly replying at the other end.

Keegan pointed again from the left after a Gallen pass, and Marty O’Reilly kicked over soon after.

Marley hit another from outside the arc from play to take it back to a six point game.

And while Keegan got his fifth score of the game, it was Gary McDaid’s side who ended strong, firstly a Gary McFadden two-pointer which firmly had the momentum on the visitors’ side.

Goalkeeper Caolan Kelly was next to point from play, while Donal Gallagher kicked a second score of the game after McFadden’s shot dropped short.

Liam McGinley fired over next to make it a two point game and Mark Bonner was the man who stepped up on 60 minutes, firing over a two pointer to level the game.

Two minutes were added, but there wasn’t a shot at goal in the final moments as the game ended in a draw with both sides staying unbeaten.
