Glenfin have set up another Senior Ladies final with Termon after coming from behind to defeat Burt in the semi-final in Hibernian Park, Burt.

After missing out on the final last year for the first time since 2013, Paul Bonner’s side were keen to get back to the decider, but it didn’t show early on as last year’s runners-up went four points ahead in the early stages, thanks to Niamh Hegarty’s frees.

Glenfin closed the gap but Hegarty then punched in for goal, while Karen Guthrie got a couple of points to leave two in it at the break.

And the Páirc Taobhoige women outscored their opponents by 2-6 to 0-2 after the restart, goals coming from Yvonne Bonner and one late on from Katy Herron, to ensure their spot in the final once again.

The Inishowen women had a great start to this match with Hegarty getting the opening score from a free, while Kate McClenaghan pointed a minute later following a good move.

Eimear McLaughlin had a decent goal chance go wide in between those points, but Hegarty added another two frees for a four point lead after ten minutes.

Katy Herron got Glenfin going with a score from play, but McLaughlin responded at the other end with a point that just sneaked over.

Karen Guthrie got off the mark from a free and a minute later she kicked one from play, while Danielle McGinley’s strike went over via the crossbar to leave the minimum in it.

But Moville hit the net as McClenaghan’s free was dropping short, but Hegarty got a fist on it to direct it into the net.

Glenfin weren’t rattled by that goal and despite a number of wides, seven in total in the first half, Guthrie kicked another impressive point and Yvonne Bonner fired over a free in added time to leave the score at 1-5 to 0-6 at the break.

But the third quarter of this game was dominated by Glenfin, first as Abbie McGranaghan pointed, while Iona McDaid shot for goal, but Kathy McLaughlin held the shot.

Katy Herron levelled the game, and as Glenfin won the kick out, Guthrie put them ahead for the first time on 37 minutes.

Niamh Hegarty levelled the game back up and she thought she had her side ahead after punching in from a McClenaghan free once again, but a square ball was signalled by Pat Barrett.

From that, Glenfin went up the pitch, and after the ball was blocked down, Danielle McGinley won possession high up and found Bonner, who fired low into the net.

Further frees from Guthrie and Bonner and another good score from McGinley put six in it, and it could’ve been more as McDaid and McGinley had shots at goal blocked down.

Hegarty kicked another after a good run on the left, but when Guthrie played Herron in along the byline down the right, she cut in and fired low, with McLaughlin getting a leg to it but only to ricochet in off the near post.
