Gaeil Fhánada celebrate after winning the Intermediate title in Lifford
Gaeil Fhánada 1-9
Ardara 1-6
Gaeil Fhánada will play in the ladies Senior Football Championship next year after a narrow extra-time win over Ardara in Lifford on Sunday afternoon.
Unable to be separated after the hour at 1-4 to 0-7, both sides hit just one point each in extra-time, but the final score of the game came from county star Clare Friel, who struck the net to make the difference.
In tough conditions, Sarah Harkin hit a first-half goal for the Kentucky side, but Lauren Carr hit all five points in the opening 30 minutes for Fanad, which left the game level at the break.
Just two scores apiece after the break, the game was sent into extra-time and while Ardara led coming into the final ten-minute period, the game was levelled up when Carr got her seventh point.

And when Friel went through in the final minute, it signalled big celebrations for the Pairc Uí Shiadhail side, and another heartbreaking final defeat for Ardara.
