Naomh Conaill’s Max Campbell was left stuck for words after winning a first Donegal SFC title with the club.
Campbell, who played for the Donegal Under-20s this year after moving up from the county minors, and the Glenties men had it all to do once again in the championship this season as they came from seven down at the break.
But like they did in their previous rounds against Termon and Four Masters, they kicked it up a gear in extra-time.
“I can’t even describe it to be honest," Campbell told TG4 after the game.
"The legs were gone, and boys were tired, but we dug in there and put in a good shift in the last five minutes there.”
Kevin McGettigan’s goal helped Martin Regan’s side back into the game, but it took a Shea Malone two pointer in the 62nd minute to force extra time.
And Campbell hit a massive goal and a point in quick succession as they went six clear, only for Gaoth Dobhair to bring it back to a two point game coming down the stretch.
“We had Shea Malone there too at full time, who drew the game for us and took it to extra time, so it’s a group effort and we worked together.”
And as they held out for the win, it would be Campbell’s first medal at senior level with the club.
“It means everything, to be honest, I’m lost for words.
“I just have no words, just excitement, and what a day for the parish.”
