Ardara manager Adrian Brennan was high in his praise of his players in the aftermath of Friday night’s Division 2 MFC win over Dungloe at the Donegal Training Centre in Convoy.

The Pearse Memorial Park might have had four to spare in the end at 1-10 to 1-6 but it was a late salvo of points that finally tipped the balance in an exciting contest.

“We are just delighted to come through and win what was a tough battle out there tonight.

“We played some good football but Dungloe should take some credit from what they brought to the game too.

“Our boys showed great character and spirit to come out on the right side of the result against a good Dungloe side.

“And we knew that is what it was going to take against what was a typical Dungloe team that will compete for every ball as if their lives depended on it.

“We knew what to expect because it is in their DNA they never give up and that is the way it  was out there tonight.

“They came black and levelled the game early in the second half and we pulled away again and Eoghan McNelis kicked a massive two-point free to put us four up again.

“But they came back again and scored a goal and a point to draw level again with only minutes to go and the game could have gone either way at that stage.

“But  thankfully we got the scores and we pulled away in the last five minutes and I’m really delighted for the boys”.
