Black and Amber boss John MacIntyre was well aware that his side was carrying the favourites tag. But they still had to go out and put in a performance against a useful Twin Towns side.

“I know we were favourites, but we still had to go out and win it,” he said.  “We last won it four years ago so it was important for the club to get over the line tonight.

“But MacCumhaills have a winning pedigree and all of those players we were facing tonight have won quite a few county titles, which is great for their confidence”.

Asked about Conall Heron’s phenomenal display - where he nailed 2-1 in that 3-1 to 0-8 victory, MacIntyre says he believes there is still more to come.

“He is a very good football and rugby player also and we are just glad to get him involved and both of those goals he got were pretty special.

“And the encouraging thing is that we feel there is even more to come”.

He added: “Today was about getting over the line and making up for the defeats in the past two finals.

“And we got there, but there were some great moments of brilliance from Conall, Cormac Haran and a few other lads as well. And it is always nice to get some silverware”.
