Donegal GAA make Revenue settlement following completion of self-review audit

Donegal GAA chiefs have reached a settlement with the Revenue Commissioners following a voluntary disclosure review.

The Democrat understands Donegal have now settled their tax liability hit after the conclusion of Croke Park’s financial review of all county boards, the length and breadth of the country.

The review was part of an overall self-risk assessment by the GAA but did not apply to the six counties in the north of Ireland, or any of the overseas units of the Association as they are governed by different tax regimes.

Back in August, Donegal treasurer, Grace Boyle, confirmed Donegal’s participation in the audit after it was reported that some counties had already reached six-figure settlements.

This follows a self-assessment review that covers the last four financial years.

Earlier this week Kerry GAA confirmed it had also reached its own settlement, while reports from Meath say the Royals have made their voluntary disclosure provision of €126,000, in their accounts, for the 2025 financial year.

Donegal officials were not available to comment on the matter, on Wednesday, at the time of going to press.

The exact amount of the settlement is unknown, for now, and DonegalLive understands the Donegal board has, like other counties, been advised by Croke Park not to publicly disclose their own respective figure.

If the settlement was made prior to the closure of the 2025 accounts, which usually falls in September, then the settlement could well appear in this year’s financial report, which is usually made public just prior to Convention.

This year’s Donegal GAA Convention will take place in Jackson’s Hotel, Ballybofey on Wednesday, December 10.

Meanwhile, Donegal have been drawn against Derry and Antrim in Section C of the 2026 Dr McKenna Cup.

Luke Barrett was part of Jim McGuinness’backroom team for the past two seasons but he has since linked up with the Oak Leafers, managed by Ciarán Meenagh.

Donegal’s other fixture will be against Mark Doran’s Antrim, with one game at home and one away, but fixtures are yet to be confirmed.

Fermanagh, managed by former Donegal manager Declan Bonner, have been drawn in Section B with Cavan and Monaghan.

After a year without the competition in 2025, the Ulster GAA confirmed its return in September for what will be the 100th anniversary of the Dr McKenna Cup.
