The winning mentality in Four Masters continues unabated with the U-21A title for 2025 to their impressive CV over the last few years.

Turlough Carr is just 18 years and he has four minor titles, two Ulster minor titles and now two Donegal U-21 medals in his collection.

Once again he was in the driving seat as Four Masters proved much too strong for Naomh Conaill in the final at Fr Tierney Park, Ballyshannon.

Carr contributed four points and was involved in many more as Four Masters recovered from a whirlwind Naomh Conaill start which yielded a goal and a point inside three minutes.

But the Four Masters man was never really concerned and felt his side performed really well on the day.

“Once we got our main men on the ball and we started controlling the game, we got settled and got a score or two and we were off and running then,

“They are a very strong team and have a great attacking force with the likes of Finnbarr (Roarty), Max (Campbell) and Shea Malone going forward. They were always going to be hard to keep quiet, but I thought the depth in our squad in the end paid dividends.”

Once Four Masters got into their stride they produced one of their best displays ever in a final with plenty to spare at the finish.

“We have really good footballers and whenever we get the ball moving and into our main men, to Conor (McCahill) and Seanán (Carr). We got kick passes off and we were very hard to stop then.”

By the time referee Martin McCormick sounded the final whistle, Four Masters had amassed a tally of 2-22 with 10 different scorers and just one two point score included in that tally, which was really impressive.

“It is a huge score, especially coming against Glenties because we know they are a really strong defensive team. To get 2-22 against Glenties is a dream really.”

It was a second U-21A title in-a-row for young Carr and it is hard to believe that he has three more years left for this competition. Four Masters will be favourites again to retain their title next year, such is their strength at the moment.

“We are losing our captain, Conor (Reid) and he will be a very big loss. He is a big voice in the dressing room, but we are not losing too many. Last year we only lost Senan Quinn. Hopefully, we can go on next year and be able to win it.

“Hopefully we can take this into senior football now. There will be many of this team who will be starting for the senior team.”

For Turlough Carr, the season is not over yet as he is captain of the Four Masters minor team who are drawn to play Derry champions, Dungiven in two weeks’ time.

“It is a busy time but we are looking forward now to going up to St Paul’s with the minors (on December 14th). We will enjoy ourselves tonight first,” said Carr, who says it is great to have so much talent available at the moment.

“The work going on in the background is really incredible. To be able to have something to show for it is really meaningful. The winning mentality in the club is great,” said Carr.
