Participants in the Christmas Kickabout held at Fr Tierney Park
Aodh Ruadh GAA Club has raised more than €1,000 for the Ballyshannon Community Hospital Comfort Fund following a festive Christmas Charity Kickabout.
The popular event made a welcome return after several years’ absence and drew a strong turnout as the much-anticipated “Battle of the Parishes” was revived.
Players of all ages from The Rock and St Patrick’s took to the pitch, with both men’s and ladies’ matches adding to the occasion and providing plenty of entertainment for those in attendance.
Following an afternoon of lively action and no shortage of good-humoured debate over the refereeing, organisers declared the Battle of the Parishes a draw before participants and supporters gathered for refreshments afterwards.
In total, just over €1,000 was raised for the hospital’s Comfort Fund.
Thanking those involved, the club expressed its appreciation to everyone who played, attended and supported the fundraiser. A special word of thanks was also extended to the Ceol Urlise champions for their contribution, as well as those who assisted with post-match hospitality in the Aras.
The club also paid tribute to Brian Gillespie, acknowledging him as the driving force behind the successful initiative.
