O'Donnell Park, Letterkenny is set to play host to Donegal's opening McKenna Cup clash with Derry

O’Donnell Park will be subject to a pitch inspection tomorrow morning ahead of Donegal’s opening Dr McKenna Cup clash with Derry.

Heavy frost and some snowfall has hardened underfoot conditions in the north west across both Friday night and Saturday morning.

However, the good news on Saturday evening was that the Letterkenny venue had “perfectly” stood up to all of that. 

Still, while the cold snap will continue into Sunday, a spokesperson for the Letterkenny venue said they were “optimistic” that the contest will go ahead as planned but, added "they’d be waiting to see what tonight brings”. 

The same spokesperson said that an official inspection will be carried out on Sunday morning. Armagh’s Shane Murphy is down to officiate the game as Jim McGuinness’ side host their Oak Leaf rivals.
