L-R: Alan Clarke, Michael Mulreany and Jonathan Toye
John Moores/Edge Hill 1-21
New York 2-14
Three Donegal men were celebrating on Saturday as Liverpool John Moores University/Edge Hill University lifted the Corn na Mac Léinn Cup.
Ardara man Michael Mulreany captained the side in the 1-21 to 2-14 win, while Naomh Pádraig Uisce Chaoin’s Jonathan Toye started, and his Muff clubmate Alan Clarke was on the bench as they defeated the American Collegiate side after extra-time.
Mulreany also kicked two points in the victory as they had to do it the hard way, coming from five points down in the first half of extra-time at the DCU Sports Complex.
John Moores/Edge Hill led by four at half-time, but Ryan Scanlon’s goal for the New Yorkers helped them come back into the game, which ended 1-11 to 0-14 after the hour.

Tiarnan McLaughlin got the next goal for the American side, who soon led by six, but the Liverpool side fought back.
A Niall McStravick penalty found the net to put his side one ahead, and they saw it out for the remainder, ending in a four-point win.
McStravick ended as top scorer with 1-3, while Aaron Smith and Eoghan O’Hagan also hit four points for the victors as they lifted the third-tier Gaelic football championship trophy for third-level education colleges, institutes of technology, and universities in Ireland and England.
LJMU/Edge Hill beat Cavan Institute in the semi-final on Friday afternoon by 1-17 to 0-16 in the DCU Sports Complex.
It’s a second final disappointment in a row for New York, who also lost out in last year’s final to South West College, who competed in the 2026 Trench Cup.
