Joe McGill and his London team put up a fight against Mayo in the Connacht SFC
Joe McGill from Convoy kicked five points but couldn’t prevent London from losing out to Mayo on a 0-31 to 1-15 in the Connacht SFC quarter-final in Ruislip.
Cian McHale, Ryan O'Donoghue, Paul Towey, Michael Plunkett and Jack Carney raised orange flags as Mayo, aided by a strong first-half wind, went in 0-17 to 0-6 in front at the break.
London were boosted by a Mícheál Ó Reilly goal just two minutes into the second half but Mayo managed to keep the Exiles at arm’s length, despite three two-pointers in three minutes from James Davis. McGill's five points were made up of three frees and a two-pointer from play, while Mayo's Ryan O'Donoghue top-scored on the day with 0-11.

McGill was joined in the London starting XV by Newtowncunningham’s Daniel Clarke at centre-field, alongside London-born Liam Gallagher, whose father is from Dunfanaghy, while former Glenswilly player Shaun Wogan was on the substitutes’ bench.
Moville’s Ciaran Diver had been sent off in the National Football League Division Four loss to Antrim. Former Donegal and Termon goalkeeper Michael Boyle is team coach and Stevie Collins from Letterkenny is the assistant kitman.
London now face into the Tailtean Cup while Mayo are in the last four in Connacht and will play against Roscommon or New York in two weeks' time.
