Burt defeated Buncrana on Friday night
Buncrana 1-9
Burt 1-13
On a miserable night for hurling, Burt maintained their winning streak in the Donegal Hurling League with a hard-fought victory away to Buncrana, pulling clear with a late surge in the closing stages.
It was the home side who made the brighter start, with Kevin O’Rourke and Caolán O’Neill registering early scores to put Buncrana on the front foot.
Burt, however, stayed in touch thanks to the accuracy of Kieran Brady, who converted a series of placed balls and added a point from play.
The visitors seized the initiative midway through the first half when Ciaran Porter struck decisively, firing to the net to edge Burt in front.
Buncrana responded with a goal chance of their own, but O’Neill’s effort was superbly denied by Burt goalkeeper Paul Burns.
Burt capitalised on that moment, adding further scores from Andrew Walker to take a narrow advantage of three points into the break.
With the wind at their backs after half-time, Buncrana looked well placed to mount a comeback.

However, Burt’s experience, particularly through Dara Grant and Christopher McDermott, proved crucial as they controlled large spells of the second half.
Buncrana eventually found the breakthrough they needed, grabbing a late goal to draw level heading into the final quarter.
But Burt responded impressively. Goalkeeper Fionnian Gill’s accurate puck-outs provided a strong platform, repeatedly picking out key players and launching attacks.
In the closing stages, Burt’s composure told. Kieran Brady and Devyn McColgan stepped up with vital points to push their side clear and secure a deserved win.
Buncrana scorers: Caolan O’Neill 0-6,2f; Darren Doherty 1-0; Kevin O’Rourke 0-2; David Carey 0-1.
Burt scorers: Kieran Brady 0-8,6f; Ciaran Porter 1-1; Devyn McColgan 0-2; Dara Grant 0-1; Andrew Walker 0-1.
