Mark McHugh believes it is “unfair” that the three teams who won their Leinster SFC first-round matches last weekend are required to play again so soon.

Elsewhere, Laois and Wicklow progressed to the quarter-finals and will now take on Kildare and Dublin after defeating Offaly and Carlow respectively.

“I actually feel that’s a wee bit unfair,” the 2012 Donegal All-Ireland SFC winner said.

“All the teams that played this weekend have to play next weekend against one of the ‘big four’, if you want to call them that.

“There should be a two-week break, because they can go and watch their next Leinster opponent today. I’m sure Meath manager Robbie Brennan was out there.

“We’re looking at Longford since the league, so we need to get studying Meath right away and we’ll see what we can bring.”
