St Eunan’s ran out emphatic winners in their league clash with Dungloe in Letterkenny on Friday evening.

From the outset, it was clear this would be a difficult assignment for an understrength Dungloe side, with the hosts asserting control across the field.

The home side were dominant in defence and midfield and surged into a commanding lead inside the opening ten minutes. Goals from Cathal O’Brien and Conor Neely, along with points from Fearghal Delaney and Cormac Finn, set the tone early on.

Fionntan O’Toole briefly raised Dungloe hopes with a goal, while Odhran Mulligan added a pointed free. However, Delaney effectively ended the contest as a competitive fixture with a four-goal burst early in the second quarter, with the Dungloe defence unable to contain his movement and clinical finishing.

Neely struck for his second goal in the 23rd minute and further points from Steve Donohue, Brendan Gaffey, David Horgan, Colm McAnespie and Neely left a sizeable gap at the break, 7-13 to 1-1.

Dungloe enjoyed their best spell in the third quarter, as Mulligan and Kevin Gavigan responded with points to efforts from O’Brien, McAnespie, Steven Doherty and Conal Herron.

However, another St Eunan’s goal from Gavin Forde on 46 minutes ensured the hosts maintained control heading into the closing stages.

Herron, Gaffey, Jordan Barr and Cormac Haran added further points before Haran netted a late goal on 52 minutes. Points from Forde and Gaffey rounded off the scoring.
