Naomh Brid take the spoils in local derby against Pettigo at Trummon

Naomh Brid picked up another two points at home on Sunday in the Division 3 All County League against local rivals Pettigo.

The locals got off to the best possible start in Trummon with a two point free from Eoin Rush and they built a lead of 0-8 to no score with points from Jack O’Hara, Gearoid Gallagher, Darren Russell, Callum McCafferty, Callum Gallagher and Aaron McGrory.

But then Pettigo found their scoring boots with the next four points to halve the lead thanks to points from Ollie McCaughey and a two pointer from Corey Monaghan.

Naomh Brid struck for the first goal of the game on 23 minutes with Donal Gallagher finding the net while Pettigo had the final point of the half.

Half-time: Naomh Brid 1-8, Pettigo 0-5.

A second goal from Donal Gallagher on 40 minutes put Naomh Brid on their way and they had further points from Gary McCafferty, Eoin Quinn (2) and three from Aaron McGrory, one a two  point free.

Pettigo kept chipping away with points McCaughey, a two pointer from Paul Robinson and one from John Carrigeen. They also had a late goal from Emmet McGurn, but they were unable to bridge the gap which Naomh Brid had built up.

Both sides had a black card in the second half with Eoin Rush of Naomh Brid and John Carrigeen of Pettigo spending 10 minutes in the bin.
