‘Jimmy’s Winnin’ Matches’ will run from Thursday to Saturday of this week in Letterkenny
Donegal GAA supporters will get an opportunity later this week to relive the All-Ireland success of 2012.
Presented by An Grianán Theatre Productions, performed by Louise Conaghan, written by Kieran Kelly and directed by Patrick McBrearty - from acting circles and not the new Donegal captain - ‘Jimmy’s Winnin’ Matches’ will be take to the stage from Thursday, January 19 till Saturday, January 21, each night at 8pm at Letterkenny's An Grianán Theatre.
“Croke Park, September 2012,” reads An Grianán Theatre description. “As Donegal take to the field for their All Ireland final against Mayo, their first in twenty years, Danielle “Dodo” O’Donnell watches behind the goals in Hill 16. In one moment, her life changes forever. As the ball is kicked high into the square, her life flashes before her eyes as she recalls the highs and lows that came with supporting her county for over twenty years.
"Louise Conaghan portrays each of the colourful characters she encounters along the way as she relives the heartbreaks and triumphs, the love and loss. Jimmy’s Winnin’ Matches is a brand new uplifting and heartwarming play that celebrates what it means to come from Donegal through the eyes of one GAA fan.
“The title of the play is used by kind permission of Rory Gallagher, and taken from his song Jimmy’s Winning Matches by Rory and The Island.”
