Shannon McGroddy set for first Donegal start since 2019 following ACL injury

Shannon McGroddy will make her first senior start since 2019 as Donegal welcome Meath to Letterkenny in the Lidl Ladies National Football League Division 1, throw-in 1pm.

McGroddy, who plays for her native Downings having previously lined out with Termon suffered an ACL injury in 2021, and was a second half substitute last Saturday as a new-look Donegal side went down 0-11 to 0-6 against Galway in Tuam in Donegal's opening fixture. She debuted for Donegal in 2013.

Nicole McLaughlin from Termon will also start this season for the first time with Katie Dowds from MacCumhaill’s and Killybegs’ Susanne White - who scored five points last week - missing out.

Emer Gallagher will captain the side against the Division 1 and back-to-back All-Ireland champions. Meath lost out to Dublin on an 0-11 to 0-8 scoreline last week.
