Donegal LGFA Chairperson Seamus Herron presents the Special Recognition Award to Niamh McLaughlin
Donegal LGFA this afternoon paid tribute to captain Niamh McLaughlin by means of a Special Recognition Award in honour of her hard work and dedication to Ladies Gaelic Football.
McLaughlin, who plays for Moville, was presented with the award by Donegal LGFA Chairperson Seamus Herron at O'Donnell Park.
"Niamh's story is remarkable on many levels. She has battled back from three cruciate knee injuries to be named the Player's Senior Player of the Year for 2022," reads a statement from Donegal LGFA.
"She was a tower of strength for Donegal as we contested the 2022 Lidl National League Division One Final, a TG4 Ulster Senior Final, and a TG4 All-Ireland Senior Championship semi-final.
"The consistency of Niamh's performances on the field earned her the nod from her fellow players, and the Moville player made history as Donegal’s very first TG4 Senior Players’ Player of the Year award winner. Niamh has come through the ranks of our underage squads and is a real leader and role model, on and of the pitch, for all young girls aspiring to become county and club players."
