Karl Lacey became Head of Academy Development in 2021
GAA officials and Karl Lacey are understood to be in talks regarding the future of the Donegal Academy.
A fallout led to Head of Academy Development Lacey and approximately 40 coaches quitting their positions earlier this month.
It is understood county chairman Fergus McGee has met with Lacey and further discussions are planned.
McGee said he did not wish to speak publicly on the dispute, although is hopeful of commenting on the matter next week.
Lacey resigned from his position almost three weeks ago and was followed by the entire coaching staff a week later.
The 2012 Footballer of the Year cited “a lack of support” in his message to his fellow coaches to announce his resignation.
Six days later, coaches said in their parting statement they “have lost confidence in the governance of Donegal GAA.”
St Eunan’s McGee was elected chairman in December having defeated Paul McGonagle from Buncrana in a vote to succeed Aodh Ruadh clubman Mick McGrath.
After a lengthy discussion at its last meeting two weeks ago, county committee mandated the executive to do all in their power to get Lacey back on board.
“There was a good discussion on the matter at the county board meeting,” said one experienced delegate. Five or six people spoke strongly in favour of Karl and the importance of getting him back on board.”
