Dungloe celebrated a bumper year on the playing fields on Saturday night with their annual awards presentation dinner dance in the Waterfront Hotel.
Donegal senior football manager Paddy Carr was the special guest, while Donegal officers county secretary Declan Martin and assistant secretary Ed Byrne were also on the guest list.
Up to 200 players, officials and supporters were present for the highlight of the night, the presentation of the Donegal Intermediate Football Championship medals to the all-conquering senior team. The team of 2022 captured the club’s first championship silverware since 1986, when they defeated Naomh Columba in the final.
The senior ladies team who had a fantastic year winning Division 3 of the Donegal LGFA League and the Donegal junior Comórtas Peile na Gaeltachta Championship were also honoured on the night. The ladies only lost once in 2022, in the LGFA Junior final neighbours Gaoth Dobhair.
Darren Curran won the senior player of the year award, Saskia Boyle was the senior ladies player of the year and Brendan Boyle was senior hurler of the year.
Eugene McGarvey was named as the club person of the year. And there was an air of sadness as Ryan Brennan -a member of the intermediate winning team - picked up the Hall Fame award for his later grandfather Jim Brennan, who was only laid to rest on Friday.
